Sachamama Nature reserve is home to Pedro, his wife Maryori, and their two daughters.
Located in the mountains of Quindio, the coffee region of Colombia, in a house they have constructed themselves, they live without electricity and use firewood to cook their food. Their coffee comes from very old coffee trees that do not produce as much as the standard mono-crop setup.
They are restoring a large section of rainforest which had been previously ravaged by cattle farming and monoculture. Pedro is currently renting a small space connected to the region's electrical supply in order to produce his coffee, however, his dream is to be completely self-sufficient.
Solar panels would be the ideal energy supply for a project like his, but they cannot currently afford them. This 3-minute documentary has been made to raise awareness about Sachamama and gain the attention of alternative energy providers, who might want to be part of Pedro's vision and help turn his dream into reality.
